Counting passengers on Buses

Integrate passenger numbers with fare revenue and running cost data

Biodata Limited has signed an agreement with 21st Century Crime Prevention Services Limited, giving it the exclusive rights to Biodata's people counting system when interfaced with public transport vehicle systems.

The Biodata system, known as 'Video Turnstile', uses overhead CCTV to count passengers entering and leaving a vehicle. The Video Turnstile will be interfaced with fare revenue data from the ticketing machines and automatically transmit an audit report back to the control centre as each bus returns to its depot. Biodata are also developing an interface to 21st Century's Eco-Manager product which is aimed at reducing fuel and maintenance costs for bus operators by monitoring and reporting on driver behaviour.

Peter Ward, Chairman of TG21 plc - the parent company of 21st Century Crime Prevention Services Limited - commented:

"We are delighted to announce the deal with Biodata for the exclusive rights to its people counting system when interfaced with public transport vehicle systems. This technology, when coupled with 21st Century's products will give greater control on revenue and reduced running costs for bus operators up and down the country."

Biodata have been designing data collection systems for over 30 years and offer free technical support for life. Their people counting systems are in place in over 20 countries.
