Installing the CCTV Camera

For tips on choosing a place to count see the Specifying the System section.

  1. Measure the distance between the camera and the floor and check your CCTV camera has the correct lens focal length - see the table below. (We normally supply cameras with a 3.6 mm focal length lens.)
    Lens Focal Length
    2.9 mm
    3.6 mm
    4.6 mm
    6.0 mm
    8.0 mm
    Floor–Camera Height
    2.0–3.5 m
    2.5–4.5 m
    3.0–5.0 m
    4.0–6.5 m
    5.0–8.0 m
  2. Mount the camera looking directly down at the appropriate height. See the guidelines for Single Doors, Double Doors and Wide Entrances and Corridors as necessary.
  3. For focal lengths other than 3.6 mm, and camera-to-floor heights other than 3 m, you will need to use the VT Setup software to change the camera height setting. This will affect the size of the counting zone and detection parameters.
  4. If possible connect the camera to a TV monitor or PC with a video input, so you can see whether the camera is in the right place.
  5. Connect the camera to its Video Turnstile module's camera socket.
  6. In software, specify your video format: CCIR, EIA, PAL or NTSC.
