Viewing the Updating People Counts

You can connect a television monitor to the CCTV camera and see marker lines flash when the system detects someone crossing the threshold. The VT Setup software also lets you see the current counts of all the Video Turnstile units. Both these are useful during set-up to confirm that each counter is doing its job and counting correctly. You can send someone through a doorway, watch the marker lines flash and see the count update on-screen.

To View the Current Counts

  1. Select the Counts tab. VT Setup contacts all the units attached to the current communication link.
  2. Select a Video Turnstile unit from the Unit Address list. The channels are shown as UP for IN counts (where a person moves from bottom to top of the picture) and DOWN for OUT counts (where a person moves from top to bottom of the picture).

To Connect a TV Monitor

It helps when you are setting up the Video Turnstile system to connect the CCTV camera to a television monitor. This way you can view the counting zone and verify that people are being counted correctly. Do this with the VT Setup software.

  1. Select the Unit Select tab, choose a site on which to work and click the Connect to site button.
  2. Go to the Logger Setup tab and choose the controlling Logger.
  3. Select the VT setup tab. More tabs appear.
  4. Choose a VT unit address from the Select VT tab. If this is not the first in the list, then move to the Settings tab and click button 1, Read settings from module. This may take a few moments. When you do this the selected VT unit stops counting. You can therefore identify the selected unit by its both its Up and Down count lights being on.
  5. Select the Camera/Video Out tab. Make sure your selected VT unit is ticked to show that it is connected to a video output. You can view up to four video pictures at once (and thus up to four monitors showing four different entrances). In each rack system there is a module with four video outputs: A, B, C and D. Connect the appropriate video output to your monitor.

What to do if the Count isn't Accurate

If the count isn't accurate see the page on under- or over-counting. If there are no counts then see the Fault Finding section.
